Questions
1. Explain the "virtual simulator" hypothesis to consciousness. How does such a concept help explain why you behave the way you do? Be sure to draw from your day to day habits and how your mind projects into the future and reflects about the past.
2. How does M.E. theory apply to your own belief system?
3. Where do you find purpose in your own life? How does it relate to the "evolutionary" imperative?
Answers
1. The Virtual Simulator is the "Matrix" we create for ourselves. A world within a world that is entirely within our own minds. It is a great tool to use in your life though it may not be the most accurate tool in your toolbox, and It affects my behavior in many ways. Sometimes an event will happen were something I didn't like happened or I felt regret about what transpired. Or maybe it was a situation I didn't know how to properly handle. What I'll do is replay the event in my minds virtual simulator and focus on what I should have said or done, In order to learn from my mistakes. And this changes my day to day habits as I learn and further develop my mind. Other times I will be someplace I don't necessarily want to be. I will use my virtual simulator to project another place in time, lets say the future. I will look ahead in time to help me decide, What will I be doing after class? What will I be doing after I Graduate and so on.
2. When it comes to Meaning Equivalence and my own belief system, I realize there are a lot of things I take for granted. But what top's the list would be my belief in God. Sometimes I wonder, do I only believe in God because it seems like the right thing to do? Do I only believe due to the possible consequences of not believing? Is it just a support system for me and not an actual belief? This debate rages on within myself and at this current point in my life I do not have the answers. And unfortunately these are the types of questions that may never be answered. I am thankful for these beliefs even though at times they can be a painful paradox. Like it's said in the film perfectly rational people may believe in un-rational things. I agree with the film these belief's no matter how unexplainable do bring order to our very chaotic world.
3. I do feel everyone has a purpose, yet some go their entire lives and never find it. Others may find there purpose but fall short in fulfilling it. My purpose is to lyrics, songs and create music that inspires, helps and changes people's lives. But sadly this way of life was not supporting me financially, so in order to fulfill my original purpose I had to place it on the side while I pursued other purposes. Such as becoming financially stable and placing more of my focus on family, friends, and even finding that special woman and having kids. If not for these purposes I truly wouldn't have any reason to live. Like in The Myth of Sisyphus I am pushing the boulder up this incline called life, I may not be pushing the boulder I would like, but it's enough to keep me going. I would never let the boulder crush me I will continue to push it uphill until everything within me is exhausted and only then will I feel I can die comfortably
