Intro to Philosophy Wed 7pm
1. Knowing I'm made of atoms in an "almost infinite realm that cannot be defined" makes me feel both knowledgeable about myself and open-minded to the unknown. Everything is made of atoms including me, but as our infinite realm cannot be defined then we cannot rule out the possibility that I have a soul, a spirit, or an unknown force within me. These types of ideas satisfy both sides of me, because I feel we are both physical organisms and spiritual entities. The thought of a multiverse gives me both comfort and helps to confirm the present conception I have of myself. Apart of me considers that there is knowledge we may never understand, discoveries and breakthroughs that may never be uncovered due to our human limitations. But perhaps there is another side of us that is more unlimited.
2. A deeper understanding of chance can alter everything, just as when we measure anything we change it. As for my philosophy on life it makes me contemplate the chances and odds of all that I've been through, most of all my birth. I also think of the numerous possibilities chance has in store for my future. I may fall in love today, or I may die today ( as a crude example). Chance may have saved my life already, I was involved in a near fatal accident at 5 years old. At first there was a possibility that I would die, afterward Doctors believed there was a chance I would be mentally retarded. But the pendulum of chance swung the other way, And I'm here able-minded awaiting for whatever else chance has in store for me.
3. In the past, High School Life Science class made me appreciate all the wonders of the human body, there was so many more complicated things going on inside me then I could've imagined. But perhaps even more interesting was earth science class when I learned about the stars the planets and the solar system. I was amazed how far away things were, the massive distance in outer space that from down here didn't seem that far away. How Light traveled at such immense speeds, and later on in my life, learning about black holes and the multiverse. But a more simple object that science made astounding to me would be plants. How photosynthesis works and how they too are living organisms, which in some way altered the way I viewed these things, yet never took away from there natural beauty.
