Film Test Questions #5 Confirmation #5502
1.The virtual simulator hypothesis to consciousness explains how humans can warp their perception of events and create different reactions to identical situations. This concept applies to me in my everyday life at work. Working at a slightly more expensive than average restaurant exposes you to very snobby guests. These make for situations in which you can get angry and lose your job, keep your composure and your job, and occasionally other alternative solutions will be present. This hypothesis also explains how certain people can truly believe unexplainable phenomenon such as extremists who believe God wants them to kill innocent people, or some members of the Mormon faith that believe Jesus lived in America and interacted with native americans. This is historically impossible in multiple different ways, however the virtual simulator hypothesis explains that it’s perception of events. My perception is much different than theirs.
2.The theory of M.E. Meaning Equivalence blew my mind. It is a hundred percent accurate, and it explains all bizarre lifestyles and religions that exist today. Personally, no religions have made enough sense to me, they all seem to have gaping holes in them. I still believe the M.E. applies to me, because i find meaning in other aspects of life such as my girlfriend and school. They take the place of religion, because I have no need for it due to the other stimulating factors already present in my environment.
3.I find purpose in life by furthering my success as a human being. I am still young and hope to one day attain enough money to support a family. This is the drive I have to live another day. It takes the place of a religion or hobby that other humans commonly use to fill this void in their lives. Money is not the most important aspect of life, however no one can deny that having economic stability in one’s life doesn’t relieve stress and improve on the quality of life.

Film Test #3 Code:1956-7
1. The thought of living in a multiverse is amazing to me. It would greatly spark my curiosity knowing that there is so much beyond everything that I know about the world. It would make me feel like there are countless possibilities and so much left to discover. Although we might never uncover proof of a multiverse in my lifetime, I hope that science continues to further our understanding of the world around us. Secondly, knowing that I am made up of atoms and material stuff makes me feel like I am more than what I used to believe. I feel like I am apart of everything around me, and in a way this makes me feel like I belong here, when before I didn’t usually feel that way. 2. Having a deep understanding of chance has altered my philosophy on life because I no longer believe that everything happens for a reason. When something bad or unexpected happens to me, I no longer sit and wonder what I could have done wrong to deserve such misfortune. I know now that these events are based on probability, and that it could have easily happened to someone else. In a way, it is much more comforting for me to believe that I don’t have to beat myself up whenever I’m having a really bad day. 3. Science has definitely broadened my appreciation of life in numerous ways. Just recently I began to see myself and the world around me very differently. Understanding that I am made up of the same matter as everything else in this world has left me feeling like I am a part of everything here, and that I am just as important as everything else. A better understanding of astronomy has also lead me to have a deep appreciation for the stars that I see in the sky each night. Knowing the process of which these stars were formed and how some of them may not even exist anymore makes me feel grateful to be able to see what they used to be. It’s like I am able to look into the past simply by looking up into the night sky.

Film Test #4 Code 22-2
1. I believe that a large number of people resist the theory of evolution by natural selection because it may conflict with their own personal beliefs and because they may not completely understand the concept. My father is a very religious man, he was raised in a strict catholic household and is now a very devote Christian. He believes that human beings were created by God and that we are all descendants of Adam and Eve, as it states in the Bible. Because of his strong religious beliefs, he completely rejects the theory of evolution, and even goes as far as to refuse to have a conversation about the subject. Therefore, he doesn’t correctly understand the concept. I feel many other people react the same way to this topic because it seems that if they start to believe in the theory of evolution, then they also have to believe that their own personal beliefs are incorrect. However, I don’t believe that it has to be that way. Darwin’s theory makes me feel very comfortable because it gives me a history of how human beings developed over time with a lot of evidence behind it. It has helped me better understand the world around me. 2. Some things that cannot be explained by evolution are the existence of the soul, the spirit realm, or the existence of a higher power. As of yet there has not been a way to prove any of these. 3. Through Eliminative Materialism, we eliminate certain ideas or beliefs once we develop a better scientific understanding of how the world around us works. Examples of this occur throughout our history. For instance, people used to believe that the earth was the center of the universe. The sun rising and setting was believed to be the work of Apollo riding across the sky on his chariot. Even recently, we used to believe that cracking our knuckles would result in arthritis. However, science has helped us develop a better understanding of how things work and as a result; we eliminated such beliefs that no longer made any sense to us.

Film test five: #5502
1.) The “Virtual Simulator” Hypothesis to consciousness explains that our minds are able to simulate the outcomes of our choices without us having to play it out in the real world. This originally developed as a survival tactic to help early human beings survive and pass on their genetic code. This explains my own behavior because it helps me understand the reason why I find myself asking endless questions about the world around me. It also explains why I daydream and why I’m able to easily consider my options within my own head before I apply them to the real world. It also provides my life with some sense of meaning. This certain awareness has given me hopes and goals to accomplish in my everyday life. Given that consciousness gives us an awareness of the past, present, and future; I often find myself pondering my life in its entirety. I’m always worrying about my future, and regretting my past. I’m so worried about getting my life right, that my present is full of stress and doubt.
2.) The theory of meaning equivalence explains that “any meaning is better than no meaning provided that such meaning makes one want to live another day.” Even though I don’t claim to be a religious person, I can still see how this theory applies to my own belief system. My belief system lies within my family values. Without them, I wouldn’t be as strong as I am now. My family holds tremendous meaning in my life, if I didn’t have them here to support me and stand by me I probably wouldn’t have made it as far as I have.
3.) I find purpose in my life through my family. Everything I do is to ensure that they have a great life. They have pushed me to go further than I ever thought possible, and they keep me here every single day. The evolutionary imperative uses an analogy of a roller coaster to show that the greatest philosophical question is whether or not to commit suicide. Everything else comes after. I would stay on the roller coaster’s track even though I know it will end with my death. I want to make sure that I experience as much of life as I can before that inevitable day comes.
